On board the Catharina van Mijdrecht, it’s is as if you’re in a different world. Once the sails are set, time becomes a relative concept. Surrender to the elements and the daily stress falls away. Because of this de-stressing effect, many choose a sailing ship if they want to take a break. Whether you are travelling with family or friends, a special atmosphere quickly develops aboard a sailing ship. A weekend of sailing together provides a breath of fresh air through your relationships.

Welcome on board
To give you an idea of what to expect, here’s a brief description.
You arrive on Friday evening, welcomed by the crew. The skipper tells a few things about the ship, and the possibilities for your sailing trip are discussed. After this, you are free to explore the harbour, consult with the skipper or try out the berths. After a good night’s sleep and hearty breakfast, a short explanation about sailing and safety follows. Under guidance of the crew the sails are raised, and you can let your worries go for the time being.

Active or relaxed
Heavy work on a sailing ship? Perhaps in the old days, but today many hands make light work. With a little effort the sails are soon up and full, and she is on her way. Take over the helm, and you’ll fell like a pirate captain. Sporty sailing is also possible, of course. More frequent tacking, going about, gybing, etc.; we’ll keep you as busy as you like!

Another port
A stopover in another port, stretching your legs on an island or dropping anchor for a cooling dive; it’s all possible. Around the agreed time, we will arrive at our destination. Here you are free to visit the town. The next day we sail back to the departure port, where you can disembark by the end of the afternoon.

Prices and options
The Catharina van Mijdrecht has an overnight capacity of 18 people. Is your party bigger? Don’t worry! We are experts at sailing together with other ships. Drop anchor together for a barbecue on board, or race the others in a sporty mini-regatta!

A weekend’s sailing on the IJsselmeer can be booked from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. You can also book just Saturday and Sunday. A long weekend is also possible, of course; stick on an extra few days or book a special weekend such as Easter, Whitsun or the Ascension Day weekend.
