Unforgettable experience
The Catharina van Mijdrecht is a beautiful, original Klipperaak. Guests can help to set sail and manoeuver -under expert guidance of course- and take the helm themselves. Besides that, there is also plenty of time for a relaxing chat with a bite and a drink.
Who’s who
Jos Rodewijk, skipper:
Born and raised in the South Holland lake area, I developed a passion for the water at an early age, and by the time I was twelve I was sailing on my own. When the chance came along to turn my passion into my profession, I grasped it with both hands.
Danny Honig, catering:
Honig being a famous soup and pasta brand in the Netherlands, founded by my distant ancestors, the love of cooking was apparently already in my genes. My parents both sailed on the Holland America Line. And now I’m providing the catering aboard the Catharina. Go figure.
Our passion
On our ship, everything is about the guests’ experiences. Whether they are there for only a few hours or for a week, our goal is to let them have an experience they will be talking about for a long time. Young or old, passionate sailor or just there to relax; everyone feels at home on the Catharina van Mijdrecht.
Competence
As of old, the charter shipping trade is handed down from skipper to apprentice mate. After a required number of sailing hours, training is completed by an extensive college education at the Nautical College in Enkhuizen. The galley is run by staff with extensive hospitality training under their belts.
After many years of experience we can safely say that we know our business, so that you can enjoy a carefree sailing trip.
Tradition and comfort
By combining tradition with modern comfort, we manage to create a pleasant atmosphere on board. Thus, many of our guests come back year after year.
Safety
Aboard the Catharina van Mijdrecht, we combine 19th-century technology with current health & safety regulations. We are regularly inspected (at least once a year) by government shipping inspectors to make sure that your safety is guaranteed.
Flexible
You can determine how long you want to hire the ship and how much it is going to cost. We will gladly provide the catering, from basic meals to extensive and luxury arrangements, but you can also go self-catering.
Representative
The Catharina of Mijdrecht is a traditional sailing vessel that is modern in its conveniences, clean, spacious, warm, accessible and fully equipped. But especially attractive, representative and beautiful. A wonderful place to welcome your business relations.
Sustainable
Just by using the power of the wind to propel our ship, we are contributing to a better environment.We also take the environment into account when it comes to cooking, cleaning and maintenance, using eco-friendly products and recycled materials whenever possible.
Team spirit
Being on the waves with your team creates a special atmosphere. Sailing together is like a fresh breeze blowing through your relationships. New ideas find their way out and old obstacles can be overcome. A sailing trip is a teambuilding experience in itself.
Capacity
The Catharina van Mijdrecht has a daytime capacity of 40 passengers, as well as 18 berths in 8 cabins. Don’t worry if your party is bigger: we are experts at sailing together in a convoy with other ships, calmly sailing along or having a mini regatta, and anchoring together in the evening for a barbecue or dinner on board.
