With their extensive expertise they know exactly how to turn every sailing trip into an unforgettable experience. Jos Rodewijk is the skipper and navigates safely through all kinds of waters. Danny Honig or Sandra Fox is your hostess, and they ensure that nothing is lacking in the food and drinks department. For larger groups, or for special trips like educational workshops, the team is suppplemented with skilled freelancers.

A passion for water

Jos, born and raised in the beautiful South Holland Lake District, developed a deep affinity for sailing at a young age. By the age of twelve he was sailing independently, and his passion for the water soon led to his profession. For Jos, the experience of his guests is paramount, regardless of whether they are only on board for a few hours or for several days. Whether you are young or old, an avid sailor or just here to relax, everyone should feel welcome on board the Catharina van Mijdrecht.

A passion for delicious food

Danny Honig is the culinary power on board. She is a descendant of a well-known soupmaking family, and her parents worked and met on the Holland-America Line. So it’s no surprise that Danny has inherited a similar passion for cooking and all things nautical. Despite sometimes challenging conditions at sea, she dedicates herself with creativity and enthusiasm to preparing tasty meals. She is only satisfied when her guests are.

An unforgettable experience on the Catharina van Mijdrecht

The Catharina van Mijdrecht was built in 1916 as one of the last sailing cargo ships. After a long career in freight, this beautiful and authentic Dedemster Clipper barge began her second life as a passenger ship in the 1980s.

On board the Catharina van Mijdrecht, everything revolves around the guests’ experience. Under expert guidance you can actively participate in the sailing yourself, and even take over the helm for a while. At the same time, there is ample opportunity for cozy get-togethers with delicious snacks and drinks.

This traditional sailing ship offers modern comforts and is clean, spacious, welcoming and well-equipped. The interior exudes an authentic atmosphere, with beautifully lacquered wood and nautical details. Plenty of seating and a spacious sundeck create a pleasant atmosphere on board. It’s no wonder that many of our guests return year after year, something we are extremely proud of!

The Catharina van Mijdrecht has a daytime capacity of 40 passengers and has 18 berths spread over 8 rooms. Is your party bigger? No problem! We also sail in tandem with other ships. After a day of adventure, we can anchor together for a barbecue on board or other fun activities!

Unfortunately, the Catharina van Mijdrecht is not accessible for wheelchair users. It is possible to come on board with a walker, but personal guidance is necessary. People who are completely dependent on their walker are advised not to enter the ship.

Only skippers with qualifications from the Enhuizen Nautical college are allowed to command aboard the Catharina van Mijdrecht. The galley is staffed with thoroughly trained hospitality professionals. Our many years of experience guarantee a carefree sailing trip for everyone.

The Catharina van Mijdrecht combines 19th century technology with current safety requirements. She regularly undergoes strict government inspections in order to meet the highest safety standards. Our guests can rest assured; their safety on board is guaranteed.
